Dr Nighat Nadeem
Dr Nadeem (GMC: 7016439) is a highly experienced UK-trained Consultant Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist with almost 20 years of expertise. Dr Nadeem holds MRCPsych, MBBS, BMedSci, Master’s in International Child Studies from King’s College London, Diploma in Child Health and Postgraduate Certificate in Clinical Research, Education and Leadership from the University of Cambridge. She is also ADOS trained and has Approved Clinician status under Section 12 of the Mental Health Act.
She is experienced in assessing and treating children and young people with a wide range of mental health and neurodevelopmental conditions, including Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), anxiety, depression, Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD), Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), depression, anxiety, Bipolar disorder, self harm, emotional and behavioural difficulties. Her expertise spans outpatient, inpatient, and National specialist settings including general adult, intellectual disability, neurodevelopmental, eating disorder services. She is competent in managing urgent new referrals, emergency assessments in local A&E settings, prescribing and monitoring psychotropic medication in children as well as providing psychiatric consultation for other professionals. She regularly liaises with a range of professionals, including GPs, Paediatricians, social workers, psychologists and teachers.
As a published author, researcher, and international speaker, Dr Nadeem has contributed widely to the field of child and adolescent mental health. She is the author of Unmasked Moments: A Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist’s Memoir of the COVID-19 Pandemic and presents at international medical conferences.
Dr Nadeem is passionate about research and her professional journey has provided her with valuable international experience across diverse healthcare and cultural settings. Her international work involving children’s mental health internationally have developed a culturally sensitive approach to psychiatric practice. Dr Nadeem has a longstanding commitment to advancing child and adolescent mental health through clinical excellence, education and advocacy. She is actively involved in medical education and professional development. She is an Honorary Clinical Lecturer and is responsible for supervising medical students and junior doctors.
